DAY 01 : Sandoval Lake
Reception at the airport or bus station and transportation to the MALDONADO ECO LODGE , where you will receive a brief explanation of the tour and important tips before departure . Lunch (or Box Lunch on route according to the arrival time of flights). You will embark for a 30 minutes motorboat trip downstream the Madre de Dios River until the access trail to the Lake . 3 Km . hike to the banks of the lake. We will have the opportunity to observe the great diversity of species of flora in this zone and maybe a troop of monkeys or other animals which live in the Reserve. There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique prehistoric looking birds) monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live there. We will have the opportunity to swim in the lake.
The sunset into the lake is amazing , also wildlife then the sound of night appear very fast. At night Search for caimans and nocturnal creatures of the amazon. The lack of light gives us a good chance to have a stunning view of the southen constelations and the milkyway. It is time to begin our return hike to the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado.The sounds of the amazon will accompany you during your night walk in the amazon.
There we will stay in the modern and comfortable Maloka Sandoval lodge Dinner. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming oxbow lake by our canoe paddling. Opportunity to see caimans, night monkeys. tarantulas, night birds . we overnight at our comfortable eco lodge.
DAY 2: Puerto Maldonado
Breakfast and transportation to puerto Maldonado then to the airport. Or bus station (depending on the time of your departure flight or bus )
